Dear John by Nicholas Sparks
"'Dear John,' the letter read. And with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives changed forever."This book made me cry so much. I love how the story is very simple but it...touches your heart and it reveals what unconditional love really is. It's an easy read :) prolly a good book to read when your bored. Although the ending is predictable it's still nice to read it over and over again. haha. I'm telling you, it's such a sad book. :( Sparks touches human emotion. hands down :D I am now reading the notebook :D

Can You Keep A Secret?
I haven't been reading books. The last book I've read was Thirteen moons which is not really interesting because the way it was written was so overwhelming and when i say overwhelming it only means one thing - I did not understand anything. So, I didn't finish it. In fact, I've only read 'til page 7. haha.
Last Wednesday I saw one of my friends reading Sophie Kinsella's Can You Keep A Secret. I've never read any of Her books even the Shopaholic series. I asked my friend if it's a nice book and she told me that it is and it's a funny book. I read the first two pages... and I fell in love with it. I just finished the book a while ago and I love everything about it. I love the way how Sophie Kinsella wrote the book. It's very easy to understand and this is the first book that made me cry and laugh at the same time. A book should give its readers happiness and should save them from boredom - this book did! I literally couldn't put the book down. I was laughing the whole time. Nicole and alex are my witnesses. I was laughing out loud the whole time, no joke! This book is like oh-my-Gosh-amazing! I can read it all over again. It's really good especially if you're the type of person who doesn't like 'my-brain-is-gonna-explode-because-it's-so-hard-to-understand-and-the-words-are-so-deep' books.
The books is basically about Emma who spills all her secrets to a stranger on a plane because she thought she was going to die. She told him everything - boyfriend, bestfriend, and even her sex life. So you can just imagine how embarrassed she was when she found out that she wasn't going to die. But she was relieved that she will never see this stranger again.
Guess what?!
She sees him again at work...and to make the problem worse, he's the owner of the company she works for. Oh my....
I love Sophie Kinsella! I'm going to buy all her books. I'm going to finish all of them this week! I promise! well, not really but I must read them!!!! haha.

Takipsilim - The Filipino Version of Twilight
When I first heard about Takipsilim (which is the soon-to-be Filipino version of Twilight [The worldwide hit book series written by Stephanie Meyer]) I was a bit shocked. I didn't see that coming. I mean, twilight is such a big thing and i can't really imagine ABS remaking it. I've read a lot of blogs about it (especially perezhilton) and most of them are so angry, furious, exaggerating and overreacting. There was one...i don't remember if its was a blog or a forum but it said something like I hate being a filipino, it's such a shame and that I can't wait for its whole race to die. Other blogs and forums say things like (not exact words, I'm basing it from my memory. haha) "Im gonna migrate" "I'm so embarrased" "baduy" "kadiri" "annoying" "It's gonna ruin the whole thing" "it will not give justice to the novel" "for sure the quality's bad" and bla bla bla.
After reading so many hateblogs...I have to say that I'm quite disappointed not because we (yeah, im pinoy :)) are copying another american film and we don't have originality, I am disappointed because Filipinos themselves don't even know how to receive this whole remaking thing objectively. Yeah, I said that "i can't really imagine ABS remaking it." but can't we give it a shot?
Most of us are saying that we don't have originality and that all we know is copy and copy and copy. In my opinion I think that there's really nothing wrong with ABS copying twilight. Americans copied asian movies too like shutter and the ring. What i can see here is that we, the Filipinos are afraid that this remaking might come out sucky and shameful knowing that we aren't really that good compared to how hollywood makes movies (duhh). Let's face it, compared to Hollywood movies we are sooo down there. But hey! our movies are not THAT bad. Our country is poor and ABS can't afford all those film stuff they use in America but at least the TV station is trying its best to cope with them. The best thing the audience can do is to support them.
(I think that the reason why most of the filipino TV stations in the country is copying american and other films is that the filipinos themselves are unpatriotic. They say that filipino movies are baduy. Most of the people I know don't even watch filipino TV series and movies. C'mon, do you watch Anne curtis' Dyosa? So I'm guessing that TV stations are imitating american films so they can attract people to watch (since the films are based on something american.)

In my opinion, a lot of Filipinos still don't watch Filipino films/series even if they are original. They just don't...simply because they're made by Filipinos.
...aND SERIOUSLY! do you guys think that they're gonna translate Forks to tinidor/s? :)) I don't think that filipinos are that stupid (unless they're trying to make it a comedy).
*sigh* Oh! and some say that it will not give justice to the book, hello?! The original one didn't also :)).
Another problem is the casting. People say that Filipino actors/actresses are not good enough and that no one can be Edward Cullen. hello?! The original cast wasn't that good also! and Robert Pattinson is so not Edward Cullen.
But i have to admit...I'm also nervous that the filipino version might come out ugly, but whatever! I bet the people behind Takipsilim are gonna do their best (they have to because they're gonna spend millions/billions for that) to present something good to the audience. If it comes out ugly? well, its fine for me because one thing is for sure: that the director, the actors, and everyone else responsible and part of Takipsilim did their best.
...and if their best wasn't good enough for you? It's not their fault.
*ok! i was soooooo into it :))*

Team Eponine
On My Own
And now Im all alone again
no where to turn no one to go to
Without a home without a friend without a face to say hello to
And now the night is near
now I can make believe hes here
Sometimes I walk alone at night when everybody
else is sleeping
I think of him and then I'm happy with
the company I'm keeping
The city goes to bed
And I can live inside my head
On my own,
Pretending he's beside me,
All alone, I walk with him till morning.
Without him, I feel his arms around me,
And when I lose my way, I close my eyes,
And he has found me...
In the rain,
The pavement shines like silver,
All the lights are misty in the river,
In the darkness the trees are full of starlight,
And all I see is him and me,
Forever and forever...
And I know it's only in my mind,
That I'm talking to myself and not to him,
And although I know that he is blind,
Still I say, there's a way for us...
I love him,
But when the night is over,
He is gone, the river's just a river
Without him the world around me changes,
The trees are bare and everywhere the streets are full of strangers.
I love him,
But everyday I'm learning,
All my life,
I've only been pretending,
Without me,
His world will go on turning,
A world that's full of happiness,
That I have never known...
I love him... I love him...
I love him... But only on my own...

Eclipse and The Alchemist
Yesterday I bought Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer and The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I was actually planning to buy all of the twilight series pero walang available na hardbound. I didn't want to buy the paperback edition because it easily gets dilapidated. However, the fully booked miss found a hardbound Eclipse. Thank You. I bought it together with Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist. I was super happy. When I got home, I felt really stupid for getting The Alchemist and not Veronika Decides to Die which I've been wanting to read since forever!! Oh well, I'll just buy that book next time and also Twilight and New Moon.
I just finished reading The Alchemist, by the way. It's really good and the ending's really funny, sorry, ang babaw pero it super made me smile. I'm planning to read it again but I don't see the connection of Narcissus with The Story of Santiago. Anyone who wants to tell me?
I've read Eclipse last year and the other two books of Stephanie Meyer. I know it's kind of like wasting money to buy Eclipse since I've read it but i love the story and I just want to have all the twilight series so I can read them over and over again. Oh, and I'm uber excited for the twilight movie. :P

Paulo Coelho
Paulo Coelho is my favorite author. He is just amazing. His books are filled with messages of hope, love, courage, etc. I just love reading his books and his blog.
Since he is my favorite author i thought i should know more things about him aside from the fact that he is a widely known author. From my research i found out that he's from Brazil. haha yeah, i never knew he came from there. Now i know why most of his book are set there. Before he dedicated his life to writing, he worked in theaters as a director and actor. He was also a journalist and lyricist. His first book was Hell Archives which made no impact at all. His second book was the world famous The Alchemist. However it had slow initial sales that his publisher told him to let go of it. (good thing Paulo Coelho didn't) He went on and now it is one of the best selling Brazilian books of all time. Today, he has sold 100 million copies (woah, he must be super rich right now!) He was the most sold author in 2003 with his book Eleven Minutes (at that time it wasn't even released in the UN, Japan and 10 other countries yet). The Alchemist was in 6th place in 2003. Eleven minutes topped the list in the whole world except in England. The Zahir was in 3rd place best sellers next to Dan Brown's The Da Vince Code and Angels and Demons. His most sold book is The alchemist. It has sold 30 million copies so far. He entered the Guinness Book of Records as the author who signed more books in different editions. Pope John Paul II welcomed him in Vatican. That's everything i know about him. You can visit his blog at http://paulocoelhoblog.com/ There are a lot of nice stories there. You can also know more about him by going to this site : http://www.paulocoelho.com.br/engl/bio.shtml
omg! Witch of Portobello is available in his blog for free!!! yey! also The Valkyries.
