Takipsilim - The Filipino Version of Twilight

When I first heard about Takipsilim (which is the soon-to-be Filipino version of Twilight [The worldwide hit book series written by Stephanie Meyer]) I was a bit shocked. I didn't see that coming. I mean, twilight is such a big thing and i can't really imagine ABS remaking it. I've read a lot of blogs about it (especially perezhilton) and most of them are so angry, furious, exaggerating and overreacting. There was one...i don't remember if its was a blog or a forum but it said something like I hate being a filipino, it's such a shame and that I can't wait for its whole race to die. Other blogs and forums say things like (not exact words, I'm basing it from my memory. haha) "Im gonna migrate" "I'm so embarrased" "baduy" "kadiri" "annoying" "It's gonna ruin the whole thing" "it will not give justice to the novel" "for sure the quality's bad" and bla bla bla.

After reading so many hateblogs...I have to say that I'm quite disappointed not because we (yeah, im pinoy :)) are copying another american film and we don't have originality, I am disappointed because Filipinos themselves don't even know how to receive this whole remaking thing objectively. Yeah, I said that "i can't really imagine ABS remaking it." but can't we give it a shot?

Most of us are saying that we don't have originality and that all we know is copy and copy and copy. In my opinion I think that there's really nothing wrong with ABS copying twilight. Americans copied asian movies too like shutter and the ring. What i can see here is that we, the Filipinos are afraid that this remaking might come out sucky and shameful knowing that we aren't really that good compared to how hollywood makes movies (duhh). Let's face it, compared to Hollywood movies we are sooo down there. But hey! our movies are not THAT bad. Our country is poor and ABS can't afford all those film stuff they use in America but at least the TV station is trying its best to cope with them. The best thing the audience can do is to support them.

(I think that the reason why most of the filipino TV stations in the country is copying american and other films is that the filipinos themselves are unpatriotic. They say that filipino movies are baduy. Most of the people I know don't even watch filipino TV series and movies. C'mon, do you watch Anne curtis' Dyosa? So I'm guessing that TV stations are imitating american films so they can attract people to watch (since the films are based on something american.)

In my opinion, a lot of Filipinos still don't watch Filipino films/series even if they are original. They just don't...simply because they're made by Filipinos.

...aND SERIOUSLY! do you guys think that they're gonna translate Forks to tinidor/s? :)) I don't think that filipinos are that stupid (unless they're trying to make it a comedy).

*sigh* Oh! and some say that it will not give justice to the book, hello?! The original one didn't also :)).

Another problem is the casting. People say that Filipino actors/actresses are not good enough and that no one can be Edward Cullen. hello?! The original cast wasn't that good also! and Robert Pattinson is so not Edward Cullen.

But i have to admit...I'm also nervous that the filipino version might come out ugly, but whatever! I bet the people behind Takipsilim are gonna do their best (they have to because they're gonna spend millions/billions for that) to present something good to the audience. If it comes out ugly? well, its fine for me because one thing is for sure: that the director, the actors, and everyone else responsible and part of Takipsilim did their best.
...and if their best wasn't good enough for you? It's not their fault.

*ok! i was soooooo into it :))*

Ohhhriight!

We went to Glorietta to watch Twilight (10:30pm - 12:00am something). I was really disappointed. Argh, I super don't like Robert Pattinson as Edward, he's creepy. I wasn't kilig at all, Cea and I were more interested in the "11minute rule" of david. haha. The movie was funny though :)) and I liked the fight scene. Alice was such a cutie.

We ate in choices first, okay, we were in poverty. haha. We were really noisy and we were singing pa Les Mis songs. Ohhriight! Sawi, O.M.O (On My Own) video :P

David: safe?! :))

Went to Rustans > our tambayan. haha. Cea was looking for a Santa costume, cutie :). Saw a lot of adorable and disturbing stuff. Nicole, I forgot na your "hirits"! Saw Icia there! AHHH, rustans na nga lang may global warming pa, duuude, research paper haha. Dancing Elmo and Goober, very disturbing :| Exploring the deepest part of Rustans, haha walang tao :)) The glow in the dark shoes. Emo and malandi clothes for children, tsk tsk. :\. cribs!

Eclipse and The Alchemist

Yesterday I bought Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer and The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I was actually planning to buy all of the twilight series pero walang available na hardbound. I didn't want to buy the paperback edition because it easily gets dilapidated. However, the fully booked miss found a hardbound Eclipse. Thank You. I bought it together with Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist. I was super happy. When I got home, I felt really stupid for getting The Alchemist and not Veronika Decides to Die which I've been wanting to read since forever!! Oh well, I'll just buy that book next time and also Twilight and New Moon.

I just finished reading The Alchemist, by the way. It's really good and the ending's really funny, sorry, ang babaw pero it super made me smile. I'm planning to read it again but I don't see the connection of Narcissus with The Story of Santiago. Anyone who wants to tell me?

I've read Eclipse last year and the other two books of Stephanie Meyer. I know it's kind of like wasting money to buy Eclipse since I've read it but i love the story and I just want to have all the twilight series so I can read them over and over again. Oh, and I'm uber excited for the twilight movie. :P
